Declan Rice has West Ham United fans optimistic after cryptic tweet

[ad_pod ]

West Ham fans have been reacting on Twitter to an obscure post by teenage sensation Declan Rice.

The 19-year-old remains in a contract standoff as the east London club appears restrained in offering improved terms after the academy graduated rejected a deal in the region of £40,000 a week.

It is said the central defender come midfielder is currently on £3,000 per week, and the rejected terms would have moved the three-time Republic of Ireland international onto a base salary of £15,000 a week, with incentives of £20,000 per Premier League start and a £5,000 a week rise every 15 times he makes the starting eleven.

The Playmaker FC squad decided to wind-up some unsuspecting Brazil fans at the Emirates on Saturday night. Watch the hilarious results in the video below…

Rice is also questioning his international future as he ponders declaring loyalty to England or Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland, the country he represented throughout his youth.

On Monday night, when O’Neill’s men faced Denmark in a nil-nil UEFA Nations League draw, the West Ham academy graduate took the moment to tweet a photo of himself in action for the Irons, simply captioned with a heart and a hammers emoji.

While some fans took the chance to remind Rice that he could have been playing for the country that named him Under 17s Player of the Year in 2017, Hammers fans saw it as hope a new deal would be reached.

Everton fans want Walcott axed for Lookman

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Everton fans have been reacting to their win over Cardiff, and they’re not too happy with the performance of Theo Walcott.

Everton moved up to sixth in the table with a well-deserved win over Cardiff on Saturday, as Gylfi Sigurdsson’s second half goal gave the Toffees all three points.

Marco Silva’s attack is improving every game, with Sigurdsson and Richarlison both in brilliant form.

Walcott just hasn’t matched the end product of his fellow attackers though, as the Englishman put in another poor display in Saturday’s win.

The 29 year-old only has two goals so far this season, and he completed just 68 per cent of his passes in the 1-0 win.

He failed to complete a single take-on, while his replacement Ademola Lookman completed three in his short cameo.

Walcott did help create Sigurdsson’s goal, but fans are fed up with the ex-Arsenal ace, as you can see from the Twitter reactions down below…

Leeds must make Hudson-Odoi their top January target after latest Chelsea display

[ad_pod ]

Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi shone in his side’s 4-0 Europa League win against PAOK at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, and Leeds United must make bringing him to Elland Road their January transfer window priority.

What’s the word, then?

Well, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is reportedly happy to loan the 18-year-old in January so he plays regularly in the second-half of the 2018/19 campaign.

The talented teenager has yet to make a single 18-man squad in the Premier League this term with his appearances limited to three in the Europa League, and one in the Community Shield back in August.

The attacker certainly showcased his ability in the west London outfit’s latest victory as he started on the left of a front three that also included Olivier Giroud and Pedro on Thursday however.

Why should Leeds sign him?

Considering his lack of football, it might have been a tall order for Hudson-Odoi to make a big impact against Chelsea’s Greek opponents on his first start at Stamford Bridge, but that is exactly what he did.

The youngster listened to the crowd who urged him to shoot when he cut in on his right foot on the hour-mark, with his low shot finding the bottom corner to mark his first Blues goal, before he assisted Alvaro Morata for the fourth.

Meanwhile, Ezgjan Alioski has been a regular in the Leeds starting XI under Marcelo Bielsa this term, but his form, goals and assists have dried up in recent weeks, and the Yorkshire outfit may need a more impactful winger on the left if they are to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive.

The tricky Hudson-Odoi would certainly be a brilliant and exciting option, and he could be the Whites’ left-sided version of the influential Pablo Hernandez on the opposite flank.

He would certainly be a stronger loanee from Chelsea than Lewis Baker, who was hauled off at half-time in his first Championship start for the club last weekend, and while Leeds are only allowed two loan players from the same Premier League, the broken leg suffered by Jamal Blackman could surely see them cancel that deal which would then allow them to bring his teammate to Elland Road.

Wesley Moraes could be the answer Crystal Palace are looking for

Crystal Palace are in desperate need of new signings in January to move away from the Premier League bottom three.

The Eagles have struggled immensely in the current campaign, sitting just three points above the relegation zone after 15 games. Roy Hodgson has been over-reliant on Wilfried Zaha in the attack and goals have been hard to come by if the Ivorian has been below par. The only forward to have found the back of the net this season other than the former Manchester United winger is Andros Townsend.

With Christian Benteke struggling for both form and fitness and Connor Wickham also facing a spell on the sideline, a striker must be a priority in the upcoming January transfer window. Business will open in less a month, signing a regular goalscorer is a must for the former England manager.

The perfect addition to the squad could be Club Brugge forward – Wesley Moraes. Valued at £8.1m by Transfermarkt, the 22-year-old has been developing rapidly in the Belgium Premier League after ending last season with 11 goals in all competitions. The Brazilian has started the season in blistering form, netting seven goals already as well as notching two assists for his team-mates.

Moraes is a target man who would slot seamlessly into the Palace team. The youngster is fantastic at holding the ball up and bringing his team-mates into the game – he could help Zaha take his game to the next level. Despite being 6’2”, Moraes also has the pace to cause Premier League defenders plenty of problems. The forward is also extraordinarily strong meaning he would have no issues adapting to the physicality of life in England.

Moving to the Premier League would significantly improve his chances of receiving a call-up to the senior Brazilian national team.

Middlesbrough must make January move for Jermain Defoe

[ad_pod ]

Middlesbrough must make a loan move for Jermain Defoe at the start of 2019, with the experienced forward currently struggling for football at Bournemouth.

What’s the word, then?

Defoe made 26 appearances in all competitions for Bournemouth last term, and whilst he has been involved for the Cherries this term, there is no question that he is down the pecking order.

Indeed, Callum Wilson and Josh King are Bournemouth’s first-choice pairing in the final third, and Defoe has struggled for Premier League football this season.

The centre-forward’s contract at the Vitality Stadium will run until the summer of 2020, but there is every chance that he could leave before then.

Playmaker FC’s Matchday with Max caught up with Jamaica’s women’s team. See what happened when he met the history makers in the video below…

Nottingham Forest have recently been linked with a move for Defoe, but Boro should do all they can to bring the Englishman to the Riverside Stadium.

Do Middlesbrough have a chance?

The fact that Bournemouth and Middlesbrough are not exactly close in terms of location could prove to be a problem when it comes to this particular deal.

Defoe did turn out for Sunderland between 2015 and 2017, however, which suggests that he would have no problems making the move, even just for the second half of the 2018-19 campaign.

The 36-year-old has been a goalscorer at every club that he was represented, and a record of 163 strikes in 496 Premier League appearances is very impressive indeed.

Boro have proved to be difficult to score against this season, but they have really struggled for goals down the other end of the field.

And bringing Defoe to the Riverside next month would be a huge upgrade on the likes of Britt Assombalonga, Jordan Hugill, Ashley Fletcher and Rudy Gestede.

Ihlas Bebou: A much better fit for Newcastle United than Miguel Almiron

Newcastle United could be forced to seek alternatives in their pursuit of a new forward in January.

Rafael Benitez is desperate to bolster his firepower in the upcoming transfer window with the Magpies failing to find the back of the net consistently during their below-par start to the season. Reports suggest that the Spaniard is lining up a move for Atlanta United star – Miguel Almiron. The forward has enjoyed a stellar campaign in the MLS and could be set for a move to Europe shortly.

However, Newcastle are yet to make an official offer for the Paraguay international with the MLS club refusing to let their prized asset depart. Atlanta want nothing less than £30m for their star player, according to reports, which could force Benitez to seek alternatives.

One man he could target is Hannover forward – Ihlas Bebou. Valued at just £7.65m by Transfermarkt, the Togo international joined his current employers on deadline day in August 2017 but only enjoyed a bit-part role in his debut season. However, Bebou has since blossomed into a critical player for the Bundesliga side before an injury hampered his progress.

Nevertheless, the 24-year-old has found the back of the net three times as well as registering three assists for his team-mates in just ten Bundesliga appearances. The right winger is an excellent dribbler who would cause havoc in the Premier League, completing 2.4 successful dribbles per game this season. Bebou also has the vision to split open defences and could improve the goal scoring record of Solomon Rondon – the forward has averaged 1.4 key passes per game this season (WhoScored). His 6’ft frame also makes him a nightmare for defenders to deal with.

While Bebou hasn’t shown the same form as Almiron this season, he could develop into a key player for the Magpies.

HYS: Should Nottingham Forest sack Aitor Karanka?

Nottingham Forest midfielder Matty Cash has insisted that he and his teammates are still behind their manager, with the 21-year-old stating that Aitor Karanka is a “fantastic” boss, as reported by the Nottingham Post.

Cash’s comments came in the wake of the Reds’ 3-3 draw with Norwich City. Karanka’s side held a 3-0 lead at Carrow Road until the 77th minute, when the home side began their remarkable comeback.

Playmaker FC’s Matchday With Max was at the East Midlands Derby in December. Check out Forest and Derby fans thoughts on their respective managers in the video below…

The draw left Forest in 10th place in the Championship table and saw the pressure ramped up on Karanka. Having spent heavily in the summer on a number of first team signings, the Midlands outfit were expected to be mounting a serious promotion push at this stage in the season.

Karanka needs to turn the Reds’ season around quickly, as the current level that Forest are playing at is falling well below the expectations of many. Perhaps, the 45-year-old Spaniard’s time at the helm at the City Ground ought to brought to an end now anyway, so as to give the club the boost of a new manager and a fresh start.

What do you think, Forest fans, is Karanka still the man for the job?

Silva must get nervous Everton back on track ASAP with race for seventh heating up

Everton could not have asked for a worse start to the new year following their 1-0 defeat to Leicester City yesterday at Goodison Park.

The Toffees now sit four points behind their seventh-placed recent opponents with manager Marco Silva since coming out to criticise the performance of his team on the day.

The Breakdown

“It was poor from the first minute and we knew before the match what they came here to do,” Silva told Sky Sports after the game. “In the first half, we were in control and every time we had the ball and wanted to start something, we were too nervous without reason,” the Portuguese coach later explained.

It was not just in yesterday’s defeat, though, where Everton looked unconvincing, something Silva was also quick to bring up. “If you look at our last few results, they haven’t been consistent but there is no reason to be so anxious and so nervous.”

Whatever the reason for Everton’s inconsistent results, Silva must quickly come up with a solution if the Merseyside club are to claim that spot just behind the Premier League’s top six outfits come the end of the season.

Competition for that place is fierce with Leicester themselves alongside the likes of Wolves and Watford also in contention.

And despite splashing out last summer, in this moment of time, Everton look like the outsiders in the race for seventh place.

Sheffield United fans are mixed on Dowell performance

[ad_pod ]

Kieran Dowell made his debut for Sheffield United in their 1-0 home defeat to Barnet in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Dowell is a new signing at the Championship club, having joined on loan from Everton.

The 21-year-old scored 10 times in 43 appearances whilst on loan at Nottingham Forest during the 2018-19 campaign.

However, the 5ft 9in midfielder’s Sheffield United career did not get off to the best possible start.

Dowell was actually named Sheffield United’s MOTM against Barnet, but the decision did not go down well with everyone.

Indeed, whilst there were plenty of Sheffield United fans pleased with Dowell’s performance on the afternoon, others were left underwhelmed.

There is no question that the third-round defeat will go down as a huge disappointment for the Championship club, but their focus will now switch to their home league match against Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

HYS: Should Everton sign Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi?

[ad_pod ]

After his loan spell with La Liga side Valencia was cut short, Michy Batshuayi’s next step looks an uncertain one as he remains out-of-favour at Chelsea.

The Blues have struggles in attack of their own, and have been putting up with the failures and inconsistency of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud for the entirety of the season so far.

They would be wise to keep Batshuayi, but Maurizio Sarri isn’t interested in what the Belgian has to offer. As a result, both Everton and Crystal Palace have been linked with the former Marseille striker, who is reportedly available for £14m or for another loan deal.

However, a temporary move to Goodison Park is unlikely to happen for Batshuayi, as the Toffees already have Kurt Zouma on loan from Stamford Bridge – two loanees from the same club is not permitted.

So, as Marco Silva looks for another forward whilst Oumar Niasse and Cenk Tosun struggle, would you pay for an out of sorts forward with just one league goal to his name this season, Everton fans? Have your say down below…
