Liverpool Told To Sign "Unbelievable" £69m Dynamo By Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has personally requested to bring Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella to the Premier League, according to reports.

Who is Nicolo Barella?

The Italian international completed a permanent move to the San Siro Stadium in 2020 following a successful loan spell the season before, as per Transfermarkt, and he’s since gone on to make a total of 182 appearances for Simone Inzaghi’s side.

Despite his contract still having another three years remaining, the 26-year-old has been the Serie A outfit’s overall third-best-performing player this season with a WhoScored match rating of 6.94, and this impressive form has seemingly caught the eye of those at Anfield.

Calciomercato have reported that the Merseysiders have a stand-out interest in the highly-rated talent and are, as it stands, the only club name-checked to be following him, with Klopp claimed to be in love with his target.

Are Liverpool signing Barella?

Now, according to InterLive.it (via Sport Witness), Liverpool are “keeping an eye” on Barella as a result of Klopp “constantly” talking about him behind the scenes, and it’s stated that the boss has personally asked FSG “for an effort” to get a deal over the line during the upcoming window.

The Reds submitting an official offer worth €80m (£69m) for the midfielder is a “possibility”, and whilst Milan hope to “do their best” to retain his services, they know it would be “hard to resist” a sizable bid from this calibre of club.

Liverpool have confirmed that James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will all be leaving as free agents at the end of the season, so several central reinforcements will be needed, and having been hailed “unbelievable” by one podcaster from Anfield Talk, Barella could be the perfect candidate to put pen to paper.

The Champions League participant has 12 goal contributions (seven assists and five goals) to his name in 32 Serie A appearances this season, with this impressive run of form having seen him receive four Player of the Match awards.

As per FBRef, Inter’s talisman has also recorded 116 shot-creating actions since the start of the term which is the second-highest throughout the whole of his squad, showing that he’s always looking to produce chances for his fellow teammates even if he isn’t on the scoresheet himself.

Finally, Barella knows what it takes to compete and be successful at the highest level having got his hands on six trophies since bursting onto the professional scene, so he would match the winning mentality and fighting spirit of the current squad that are already in the northwest.

'We knew 190 would be tough' – Behardien

South Africa batsman Farhaan Behardien has said they were confident at the halfway mark of their match against Australia that their total of 189 would be “tough” to surpass. South Africa opted to bat at the Providence Stadium and were struggling at 112 for 6 in the 29th over, before Behardien’s 62 pushed them to a more competitive score.”The chat [during innings break] was to hang in there and we had a score to bowl at,” Behardien said. “We knew that the Aussie team is full of confidence but we knew that 190 would be tough. They didn’t struggle too much getting the score the other night against the West Indies but it was tough. [Today], the first eight overs, Parnell and Kagiso bowled really well and got those three wickets which put Australia on the back foot. So the chat halfway through was that we had given ourselves a chance and if you bowl really well, which we did tonight, we can win the game and I’m very glad that we did. It’s not easy beating the Australian team.”I thought it was one of those wickets where there was quite a lot happening. Finchy played an unbelievable innings considering the conditions. But we always felt that we were in the game. We went with quite a bold game plan with three spinners, and it paid off on a wicket that offers some assistance for the spinners.”Behardien top-scored for his team with his fifth ODI half-century by building partnerships with the lower order. He first put on 37 with Aaron Phangiso, who scored 9 off 41, for the seventh wicket and then 39 with Kagiso Rabada, who stayed unbeaten on 15. Behardien was satisfied to show a gutsy performance on a pitch that was not easy to bat on.”It’s nice to get a score for the team,” Behardien said. “There was a middle-order collapse against Sunil Narine, he kind of got stuck into us on that particular day. Personally, to be out there and grind it out for nearly 30 overs and…the trend of white-ball cricket over the last year has just been of big scores and free-flowing batting innings and sixes and fours. So for me to pull out that performance was pretty satisfying.”Even as teams have struggled to put on big scores at the bowler-friendly Providence Stadium pitches, Behardien hoped the forthcoming matches in the tri-series would be more batsmen-friendly.”Apparently, St Kitts and Barbados offer a bit more pace and bounce, even and through bounce,” he said. “Guyana was obviously low and slow so they brought all the spinners into play. Similarly, our spinners did really well. Phangi took three wickets against the West Indies the other night and Shamsi, Imran [Tahir] and Phangiso again did really well tonight. There’s a big emphasis on playing spin. Hopefully the tracks will be a little more in favour of the batters in St Kitts and Barbados.”Behardien also sang praises for debutant and chinaman bowler Tabraiz Shamsi, who struck in his first over with the wicket of Glenn Maxwell and finished with an impressive 1 for 36 from eight overs that included a maiden. Shamsi had two lbw appeals in his first over – against Finch and Maxwell – but got only one in his favour.”He brings new energy to the group. He made his debut today against the world champions so we had chucked him in the deep end straightaway,” Behardien said. “I played with him at the Titans, my state franchise side, in South Africa. There’s a little bit of mystery to him.”We’ve seen wrist spinners coming to the fore in the shorter formats – [Adam] Zampa’s coming, a lot of the IPL teams have one or two wrist spinners who turn the ball both ways. I think that’s the key going forward as to try and get some back-up for Imran Tahir. And we need somebody to be groomed by him. Tabraiz Shamsi offers a left-arm chinaman in the mould of Brad Hogg, bit of fire in his belly, always up for the game, always keen to put a performance in. It’s always gold dust to have a guy who turns the ball both ways.”He is tough to pick and I hope he will be tough to pick for the next couple of weeks. Like I said, he’s new so teams won’t have too much footage on him and hopefully the wickets will assist him little bit. But as I’ve heard that the wickets in Barbados and St Kitts are a bit more batter-friendly, he’ll have to work hard and work on his lengths. As a team we’re really excited about a left-arm wrist spinner playing in our starting XI. Hopefully he can be a member of our side for the years to come.”

Crystal Palace Eye Move For Kyogo Furuhashi

Crystal Palace are believed to be interested in signing Celtic attacker Kyogo Furuhashi during the summer transfer window, according to a new update.

Is Kyogo having a good season?

The 28-year-old has become an influential player for the Hoops since arriving from Vissel Kobe back in 2021, scoring 48 goals in just 74 appearances, as well as chipping in with 10 assists. This season, he has netted 22 times in 26 Scottish Premiership matches, standing out as one of the most effective attacking players in the division.

Kyogo's brilliance stood out again on Saturday as Celtic beat bitter rivals Rangers 3-2 at Parkhead, with the Japanese scoring two of his side's goals on the day, as they edge closer to the title glory this season.

While the forward's current Hoops deal doesn't expire until the end of the 2024/25 season, it could be that he looks for a new challenge this summer, with a move to the Premier League possibly on the cards. That's where Palace come into play, as they look to make some key signings during the upcoming window.

Could Palace snap up Celtic man this summer?

According to Football Insider, the Eagles have "watched the 28-year-old regularly this season and have been left impressed by his performances". Celtic are believed to be "braced for offers" for one of their most important players, while a "bid of £15million could be enough to prise the forward away from Parkhead".

Kyogo could be a really shrewd signing by Palace this summer, coming in as a slightly different option than the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise. The 16-cap and three-goal Japan international leads the line with a combination of quality, hard work and team ethic, not only scoring goals at a regular rate but also providing for others, as his aforementioned assist tally highlights.

The Eagles are lacking a ruthless goalscorer currently, with Odsonne Edouard and Jean-Philippe Matete scoring just five times between them in the Premier League. Granted, Kyogo could find the step up from the Scottish Premiership tough to adjust to, but he should still be a strong option than the current Palace attacking central pair, having been called "outstanding" by Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou.

At 28, Kyogo is at peak age to come in and make an immediate impact at Selhurst Park, possessing plenty of experience at this point in his career, but also still hopefully remaining in and around his prime years for the foreseeable future.

Sean Dyche tipped to play Everton ace Ellis Simms

Journalist Dean Jones has predicted that Sean Dyche could end up "loving" Everton striker Ellis Simms as he has the potential to keep the club from relegation.

What's the latest on Ellis Simms and Everton?

Back in January, the Toffees looked to be in a really dire situation as they sacked Frank Lampard having not won a Premier League game since October.

However, in recent weeks form has changed somewhat and Dyche will see his team enter the International break 15th on the table, two points above the bottom three.

In their last outing, Simms managed to grab a superb solo goal to rescue a point for Everton against Chelsea way from home with just one minute of the 90 to play.

With that in mind, while speaking on Chasing Green Arrows, Jones explained how the 22-year-old could be a good fit for new manager Dyche.

He said: "He's better than Maupay, isn't he? So he's already shown that. At least he's got some front about him and can charge through. He looks very driven, doesn't he?

"And he's a big lad. I mean, that's the sort of player you can just imagine Dyche absolutely loving. And you want that hunger in someone to prove a point and he looks like he's got that, too.

"So could be a hero at Everton by the end of the season."

Neal Maupay in action for Everton.

Is Simms a better option for Everton than Maupay?

In all competitions, Simms has actually scored a very tidy eight goals from 23 outings, with two assists to his name as well. However, seven of these efforts were on loan with Sunderland in the Championship.

That means his strike against Chelsea was his first in six outings since being recalled from the Black Cats in January. Even so, across that time, he's only been on the pitch for 110 minutes.

Neal Maupay, on the other hand, has been regularly involved for Everton but still only has just one goal in 22 outings, for a total of 1,096 mins of game time across all competitions.

With that in mind, it's not hard to see why Jones has suggested that the 22-year-old has more to offer than the Frenchman. And seeing as Maupay didn't get off the bench against Chelsea while Simms did, it seems quite likely that Dyche agrees.

It will certainly be interesting to see if the young forward can continue to help his team in the midst of their relegation battle or if this was just a one-off – much like Maupay's only goal of the season.

Wolves keen on Milos Kerkez transfer

Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on a summer move for AZ Alkmaar left-back Milos Kerkez, according to a report.

The Lowdown: Bueno eyed

Wolves may need to sign a new left-back in the summer transfer window, given that Atletico Madrid are said to be eyeing a move for Hugo Bueno, who has been praised by Jamie Carragher in the wake of his recent performances.

The Old Gold have previously been linked with Benfica’s Alejandro Grimaldo, however with Champions League-chasing Newcastle also said to be interested, they may be forced to turn their attentions elsewhere.

The Latest: Keen on Kerkez

According to a report from Record (via Sport Witness), Julen Lopetegui is keen on signing Kerkez this summer, with Brentford, Benfica, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund also said to be eyeing deals.

The left-back has his sights set on Benfica, however the Portuguese club are not willing to stump up the €20m (£17.7m) that Alkmaar are set to demand, meaning he may have to move elsewhere.

The Verdict: Get it done?

Hailed as ‘incredible’ by members of the media, the Hungarian is fantastic going forward, having picked up three goals and six assists in all competitions for Alkmaar this season, also ranking in the 93rd percentile for non-penalty goals per 90 in the past year.

Given that the starlet is just 19-years-old, he is only going to improve, and he has already emerged as a vital player for Alkmaar, making 36 appearances for the title-chasing Dutch side in all competitions this season.

It is difficult to assess how good Kerkez is defensively, as he plays for a side that are not used to being on the back foot, but his attacking ability indicates he would be a great signing for Wolves this summer, perhaps capable of playing further forward on a long-term basis.

Liverpool keen on ‘complete’ centre-back signing

Liverpool are interested in the signing of Sporting CP centre-back Goncalo Inacio this summer, a new transfer report claims.

The Lowdown: Centre-back on the agenda

While much of the current talk is about the Reds’ midfield, in terms of signings in the summer transfer window, a new central defender could also come in.

Jurgen Klopp may feel that that area of the pitch also needs freshening up, especially with Joel Matip and Joe Gomez’s performances proving patchy recently and the former being tipped to leave with just one year left on his deal.

Now, a new centre-back target has emerged, as Liverpool prepare for what is hopefully a big summer ahead.

The Latest: Reds scouts watch Inacio

According to Correio da Manha, the Reds sent club officials to watch Inacio in action for Sporting in Primeira Liga action against Porto last weekend.

The 21-year-old, whose current deal expires in 2026, is also thought to be wanted by Newcastle United.

The Verdict: Long-term acquisition?

A young centre-back with big promise feels like the best option for Liverpool this summer, considering Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk should continue to be the first-choice pairing for the foreseeable future.

[freshpress-quiz id=“419074″]

Inacio has been hailed as a ‘complete CB’ in his position by football talent scout Jacek Kulig and he enjoyed an 87.5% pass completion across six starts in the Champions League this season, showing composure on the big stage.

Inacio also averaged 3.5 clearances per game in Europe’s biggest club competition and he tasted title glory with Sporting back in 2020/21, so knows what it takes to win silverware.

At 21, he could come in as the fourth-choice centre-back, should Matip or Gomez move on, eventually maturing into a regular alongside Konate over time.
