Arsenal are on the verge of signing Viktor Gyokeres, with the Swedish striker expected in London on Friday to finalise his move from Sporting CP. The Gunners have agreed a £63.8 million (€73.5m) deal and plan to integrate him into their pre-season tour in Singapore. Mikel Arteta is finally set to land his top attacking target for this summer.

  Arsenal have agreed a deal with Sporting CP worth €63.5 million (£55m/$74m) to sign Gyokeres. The striker is now due in London on Friday, as per Sky Sports, to finalise the move and sign his contract. He will then jet out to the Far East to join Arsenal's pre-season tour.

  Bringing in a striker has been a priority for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta this summer, with Gyokeres emerging as their top target throughout the summer. The Gunners had explored other options, including RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, but moved quickly to secure the Swedish forward. Gyokeres, who was also linked with Manchester United, is now set for a move to north London.

  Gyokeres scored 43 goals across all competitions for Sporting CP last season, making him one of Europe’s most prolific strikers. “The two rounds later in the year with the Kookaburra might be slightly different, with the drier conditions, used pitches potentially,” Richard Johnson, Middlesex’s coach said. “It’s difficult early season with the softer wickets. The ball goes very soft very quickly and there’s no competition bat vs ball when it’s a good wicket with a Kookaburra early season in England. Hopefully it’s an experiment we don’t carry on with, but we’ll see.”I think tactically you can do things later in the season [with the Kookaburra]. I think it’s harder to do that early in the season. So, for the Kookaburra you can go on a bit more worn pitches and used pitches and use your spinners a lot more. But it’s quite hard to do that with a damp ball early season, damp, green outfield. Kasun Rajitha has been ruled out of the second Test against Bangladesh set to begin on March 30, Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed, with Asitha Fernando to swap in as his replacement.Rajitha is understood to have injured his back while playing in the first Test in Sylhet, during which he had received treatment and managed to continue. In fact, his eight wickets, including a second innings five-wicket haul, were pivotal in Sri Lanka wrapping up a dominant win.”Kasun Rajitha will not be available for the second test match as the player has suffered an injury to his left upper back area,” stated an SLC media release. “Kasun will return home to start rehabilitation work.”Rajitha’s replacement, Asitha, had also been ruled out of the first Test and indeed the entire series with a hamstring injury, but he is understood to have recovered quicker than expected and will fly down to Chattogram to link up with the rest of the squad.Asitha has 41 wickets in 13 Tests at an average of 26.85, though he has flourished against Bangladesh in particular with his two Tests against them reaping 13 wickets at 16.61.Rajitha’s injury is the latest in a string of injuries to members of Sri Lanka’s fast bowling unit.   Speaking to the media, Dalot said: "It's tough to talk about it, but it was a tough week for me, for every teammate that played with him. I cannot imagine what the family went through. I had the opportunity to see them and it's just tough. There aren’t any words to describe it when such a tragedy happens like that. 

  "It hits you. I felt that everybody, the whole world felt it, even if they didn't know him personally. It's just a tragedy. Every time I go on the pitch, I think of it. Even today, I saw shirts with his name. He will be remembered forever, and he deserves that because he was a great man, a great teammate. 

  "Diogo was someone that I would say was a role model for me because I always like to see a player's behaviour when they play and when you don't play. He was always the guy that was thinking and putting the team first. So I will always remember him like that. Hopefully, he's at peace now and resting where he is."

  Jota’s death brought the footballing community together in grief and remembrance. Supporters of rival clubs came together to honour his life and career. Dalot added that his influence went beyond football, leaving behind a legacy of character and camaraderie.

  Dalot continued: "He could have played for any team. When you're talking about the personal side, I don't look to the shirts that he represents. Obviously, I played a lot of years with him in the national team and I spent some time with him. So you create that connection, you create some memories. That's what I want to keep, the good memories. It's how I want to remember him."
